Curtis Junior High School Reviews

Child attending 1st year of school @ CJH. Teachers are holding children more accountable, a good thing. Some new teachers still finding their way, all in all so far so good. So many student gives impression of assembly line education. Hope to see more after school activities for kids that keep them active. Safe area is the best part of the system. Need less ROTC presence and more focus on giving back to the community through volunteer work. This should be mandatory more for HS and less for CJH Instead of part time languages which they spend so little time in to actually learn anything tangible. Keep you posted.

CJH has a very competent principal who has been working on the curriculum. Her new hired teachers are excellent. Some of the older teachers need to get on the band wagon concerning the curriculum. The music program is incredible.

Big positive change from when our first two children attended (late 90's). With Patti Banks (School Superintendent), Susan Follmer (Principal), Casey Crawford & Ben Zielke things are definitely looking up. Treating the students with trust is a needed and welcome change. The curriculum is tough but the every other day class schedule allows students the flexibility needed to complete assignments. The only one negative point I can make is that the changes were overdue. Better late than never!

This school was an experience for my daughter and has many good things and a few not so good things involved with it. I feel that after-school activities are very positive and enriching yet something I have noticed about this school is that there is a lot of racial seperation. I know that this is typical and that the school system doesn't have any control over children's friends and behaviors but I was just putting it out in the open. Overall, I feel that this is a genuine school with a lot of potential. That is really saying something seeing as the school has to deal with 13-16 year olds!
