Lakewood Middle School Reviews

The curriculum and materials here are outdated. Administration does not support advanced programs and actually states that 'All classes are Honor classes'. This is obviously not the case when you see the test scores being earned here. My child would have been served better in an environment that encourages students to push themselves academically and develop solid organizational and study skills. Unfortunately the bar is set pretty low.

Many parents I've spoken to would like to see a better organized music department. At the 2006 Winter Concert, the students attire was messy, unprofessional, and too casual for concert performances. At the beginning of the year the instructor informed me of the dress code for concerts. My daughter was dressed in black dress shoes, black trouser socks, black slacks, black belt, and white long sleeve dress shirt tucked in. But I could only count about 20 other students who were dressed the same. Most were in untucked Tees and one even in black denim shorts. We were very disappointed in the appearance of the students. Now is the time to enforce proper dress code for these occasions.
